Delhi HC takes action against Google on appeal

Google filed an appeal on Tuesday, and the single judge passed an order on Monday directing the Competition Commission of India (CCI) to take up the applications moved by the Alliance of Digital India Foundation (ADIF) challenging Google’s new in-app billing policy and dispose of them by April 26.
A division bench of Chief Justice Satish Chandra Sharma and Justice Subramanium Prasad has now listed the case for further consideration on July 19.


On Monday, a single-judge bench of Justice Tushan Rae Gedela asked the CCI to decide before April 26 and also directed the tech gaint to keep the same in abeyance till the issue has been considered by the CCI.
The application about the powers given to the commission to pass on orders against a party for violating its orders is due by April 26. According to the competitor alliance, Google’s new billing policy is disguised as another version of the Google Play billing system.
