In a bid to counter the Congress’s recent promise to ban the Bajrang Dal, the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) in Karnataka has attempted to tap into the “Hindu sentiment” of the state’s population. The Congress party had recently announced that it would ban the right-wing extremist group if voted to power in the upcoming state assembly elections.
In response, the BJP has accused the Congress of “appeasing minority communities” and not doing enough to protect the rights of the Hindu community. The BJP has claimed that the Bajrang Dal is a legitimate organization that works to promote Hindu culture and protect Hindus from harm.
BJP leaders have been holding rallies and meetings across the state, where they have been emphasizing the importance of protecting the Hindu community and its culture. They have also accused the Congress of trying to “destroy Hindu traditions” and “divide society.”
Meanwhile, the Congress party has defended its decision to ban the Bajrang Dal, stating that the group has been involved in several incidents of violence and has been responsible for spreading hatred and communal disharmony in the state.
The Bajrang Dal, which is affiliated with the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), has been accused of several violent incidents in the past, including attacks on places of worship belonging to religious minorities. The organization has also been accused of promoting hate speech and inciting violence against non-Hindu communities.
The upcoming state assembly elections in Karnataka, which are scheduled to take place in 2023, are expected to be closely contested between the Congress and the BJP. The issue of religious polarization is likely to play a significant role in the elections, with both parties trying to appeal to voters on the basis of their religious identity.
