Netanyahu’s office has confirmed the meeting with Musk. Musk posted on X that the meeting with Israel’s Prime Minister will be regarding artificial intelligence technology. They will not touch on the Anti-Defamation League (ADL). Musk is involved in a conflict with the group over antisemitic comments made on X.

Israel states that Netanyahu will meet with Musk, as he favors the artificial intelligence market. He will meet other tech creators on his visit as well. The Washington Post was the first to report on the Netanyahu-Musk meeting.

People familiar with the situation claim that Musk attempts to fend off criticism over antisemitic propaganda spread on X. Netanyahu will also meet with President Joe Biden in New York next week.

Israel states that the two leaders will meet during Netanyahu’s visit to the UN General Assembly. The two leaders will give a speech at the United Nations. The location of the meeting is unclear.

Antisemitic attacks against Israel

The Center for Countering Digital Hate and the ADL have discovered that antisemitic hate is widely spread across the social media platform X. The hate speech has increased dramatically under Musk’s ownership.

An ADL spokesperson states that Netanyahu and Musk’s meeting is not surprising. Israel has one of the most innovative and dynamic technology sectors. However, Israel and Jews face the most hate on X, formerly Twitter. The group hopes that Netanyahu and Musk can discuss how to combat the antisemitic comments on the platform.

Late last year, ADL observed an increase in antisemitic posts and a decrease in moderation. The platform has seen increasing hate speech against several minorities.
