Speculations and reports state that the TDP might try to ally with the BJP to overthrow the current YSRCP government.
TDP General Secretary Nara Lokesh hinted, quite openly, about this while conducting his campaign in a Muslim-dominated locality in Anantapuram on Wednesday.
A few representatives of the Dudekula group Muslim questioned Lokesh if his party would ally with the BJP, who in recent years has earned an anti-muslim tag, and if any such thing happens, why should the muslims vote for the TDP.
Lokesh, on the other hand, offered them a patient response. He stated that there was no need for Muslims to be concerned, even if the TDP formed an alliance with the BJP.
“Previously, the TDP supported the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance government at the Centre.” “However, Muslims in Andhra Pradesh had no problems,” he claimed.
He stated that if the TDP forms an alliance with the BJP again, it will ensure that the interests of Muslim minorities are not jeopardised.
“Like in the past, when the TDP was in an alliance with the BJP, we extended many benefits to Muslims, such as “Ramzan tofah” and the establishment of a separate Muslim federation.
“We granted the Muslims a number of places in the party and the administration. However, there were atrocities committed against Muslim women while the current YSRC administration, which is friends with the BJP, was in power, he noted.
Thus, Lokesh made it plain that the TDP would be open to forming an alliance with the BJP if given the chance. After Pawan Kalyan, the head of the Jana Sena Party, met with top BJP officials in Delhi, it may have received a guarantee.
It remains to be seen how the BJp reacts to this, and whether they would be willing to join hands with the Telugu Desam Party.
