New Covid-19 cases arise in IndiaIndia reported around 6155 new Covid-19 cases on Saturday 8th April 2023. After the reports were finalized, the total number of Covid–19 cases came up to 4,47,51,259. According, to the data which was released by the Ministry of Health and Welfare, the total number of active cases in India stand at 31,194. According to the data provided by the health ministry, 11 new deaths have also been reported due to sudden spread of Covid-19. The total number of Covid-19 related deaths has now surged to 5,30,954. The Union health ministry has asked the states to identify emergency hotspots as well as increase the number of Covid-19 tests.
Latest Update from INSACOG
As per the latest INSACOG bulletin, the newly emerged Covid-19 variant XBB.1.16 has been observed in different parts of the country, accounting for 38.2 per cent of the infection till date. Noting that the Omicron version continues to be the dominant variant in India, the bulletin said an increase in infection rate has surely been observed, especially in the western, southern as well as northern areas of the country. The bulletin also mentioned, “A newly emerged recombinant variant XBB.1.16 has been observed in different parts of India, accounting for 38.2 per cent of the infection till date,”.
Even though the Covid-19 pandemic started back in 2020, new cases of the Coronavirus are still emerging in various states of the country. The Covid-19 cases are currently seen more in states such as Delhi, Maharashtra, Kerala and many others. The health ministry has coordinated with all the state governments to keep a track or record of all the new cases of Coronavirus. Other than this, the health ministry has also informed all the citizens about the spread of the virus. It was advised all citizens to take precautions and wear masks while outdoors.
