Odisha Schools Preponed Summer Vacation to Beat the Heat: Classes to Remain Closed from April 21

In view of the prevailing heatwave conditions in Odisha, the government has preponed the summer vacation for all government, private, and aided schools. This is for all classes up to standard 12. As per the announcement by the Ministry of School & Mass Education, the schools will remain closed from April 21 to June 16 and will reopen on June 17, according to a press statement.

Originally, summer vacation was scheduled to start in May, but it was preponed due to the intense heat. The decision was taken on the orders of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik.

The state experienced a maximum temperature of over 40 degrees Celsius in 30 places yesterday. This has prompted the government to take this step to ensure the safety of students. A PTA (Parents-Teachers Association) meeting has been organized, but parents have been advised not to bring their children along due to the heat. The meeting will be held between 7 am to 10 am.

The government has stated that they will take a decision based on the situation if any issues arise during the summer vacation period. It is essential to take necessary precautions during this intense heatwave period to avoid any health-related issues.

In conclusion, the preponement of summer vacation by the Odisha government is a necessary step to ensure the safety and well-being of students during the intense heatwave conditions prevailing in the state.
