Post an interrogation by the Central Bureau of Investigation, YS Avinash Reddy filed for Anticipatory Bail in the murder case of YS Vivekananda Reddy.
Avinash Reddy, the Member of Parliament from Kadapa, filed for anticipatory bail post lunch on Tuesday. The CBI have already questioned Reddy 4 times already, and he is still under the agency’s radar. A source from the agency stated that they suspect that that Avinash Reddy has credible information regarding Vivekananda’s murder.
The Vivekananda Murder case is one with many twists. As per post mortem reports, Vivekananda Reddy has been brutally murdered and found at his residence in Kadapa on 15 March 2019. The murder took place few weeks before the 2019 Andhra Pradesh General Election of 2019. As per the forensic report, seven stab wounds were found on his body made by a sharp object.
According to reports, he was alone at his residence in Pulivendula the night before his murder. Two days earlier, he was seen at Jaganmohan Reddy’s residence at Hyderabad. YSRCP expressed dubiety of the Special Investigation Team (SIT) formed by the TDP government and demanded a CBI investigation into the murder. The prime suspect, Srinivasulu Reddy, killed himself by taking sleeping pills. With no leads whatsoever, the case was put on hold. The investigation again gained pace in 2020 when the victim’s daughter filed a writ petition about the investigation. Â
A couple of days ago, the Supreme Court of India, reprimanded the CBI for the slow investigation. With the apex court expressing its disappointment, the CBI has expedited the investigation and amidst these reports, there was a rumour that the CBI might call Avinash Reddy yet again.
With uncertainty over his questioning, Avinash Reddy has applied for bail. It is yet to be known when this petition would come for hearing.
