The recent violence in Sambalpur, Odisha, has raised concerns about anti-national elements in the state. Bargarh MP Suresh Pujari has alleged that anti-national slogans were raised during the violence and called for a detailed investigation into the incident.
The BJP has also raised concerns about a possible terror threat to the state. It cites incidents such as the Sambalpur violence and the links between Uttar Pradesh gangster Atiq Ahmed’s associate Guddu Muslim and individuals in Puri and Bargarh.
Pujari has called for the state government to hand over the investigation to the National Investigation Agency (NIA) if necessary, as he believes the Odisha police may not be able to conduct a detailed investigation. The MP has also informed Union Home Minister Amit Shah about the recent violence and other issues. He calls for urgent action to prevent Odisha from moving down the same path as Bengal.
Energy and Industries Minister Pratap Deb has responded to the allegations by calling for action against anyone breaking the law or instigating violence. This is regardless of their political affiliation. Deb has also stated that it is not just the BJP but all parties that should be held accountable for any law and order situation in the state.
The recent incidents in Odisha have highlighted the need for increased security measures and a thorough investigation into any possible terror threat to the state. It is crucial that the government take appropriate action to prevent further violence and maintain law and order in the state.
