“We don’t want danga in Bengal, we want shanti”, says Mamata

On Saturday, West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee said, “People are trying to divide the country through dirty politics that includes hatred. I will not allow people to do this in Bengal. If necessary I will lay down my life for it.”

On the occasion of Eid-Ul-Fitr,  Mamata Banerjee and Abhishek Banerjee visited Red Road in Kolkata where people offered Namaz.

Addressing the crowd Mamata said, “We don’t want riots in Bengal. We want peace. We will not allow to create divisions in the country.”

“If anybody wants to divide the country, I promise to lay down my life in order to stop the thing. We don’t want danga, we want shanti”, she added.

Addressing the gathering she also said, “The BJP is being bribed by someone who claims they would split the Muslim vote. I tell them that they don’t have the bravery to split Muslim votes for BJP.”

The National Register of Citizens is being reintroduced. I don’t know about other states, but I won’t permit it,” she continued.

She also mentions, “Leaders must always maintain unity. Not a single thing needs to be destroyed. We need power, so I ask Allah to provide it to us. I am confident we can overcome them if we work together.”

Along with Banerjee, Abhishek reiterated his remarks. “We have togetherness in West Bengal, whether it’s for Christmas, Durga Puja, or Eid. We want no division. This happens only in West Bengal. This thing is unique over here. No other place has this uniqueness. Divide and rule is what they desire. However, this cannot occur. Everywhere there should be a brotherhood”, he said.
