Andhra Pradesh: Two resolutions were passed in legislative assembly

The Two Resolutions

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy passes two resolutions in legislative Assembly. Inclusion of dalit chritsians in SC category and Boya and Valmiki castes in ST category are the resolutions. On Friday evening, 24 March 2023 the two resolution were passed.

Why such resolutions were passed ?

He said that single member committee was set to find social and economic conditions of these castes in Rayalaseema districts.  Also, CM YS Jagan Mohan Reddy promised for executing it in Padyatra.  The report found the poor conditions of these castes. Landless labours, illiteracy are problems faced by them. Poor infrastructure and living conditions are making their life worse.

Many families migrate to other states in search of work.  Most of the households lack proper toilets. 16% among all live in slums while more than 70% have small households. Looking at this statistics CM said that “We want the center to include Boya and Valmiki in Anantpur, Kurnool, YSR district and Schedule Tribes in Chittoo district of AP.”

STs and SCs has poor living conditions in the chittoo district in Rayalaseema district in Andhra Pradesh.

Centre to check facts

The Schdeule Castes and Scheduled Tribes are those communities categorized as scheduled in Indian Consitution. These communities are categorized to uplift their social representation in the society. These are also called as Backward Classes. They were subjected to discrimination like denied from drinking water, walking freely on the roads in the history. Even today such discriminations can be seen. The SCs and STs Atrocities Act, 1989 came to fight against such discriminations.

The CM has requested Centre to check facts and do the needful. The Centre will check facts and will include the two communities in their respective categories. The step has taken to improve the conditions of these communities.
