Apple furthers AI for health related services

A health coaching service based on AI is apparently being developed by Apple to assist consumers with exercise, healthier eating habits, and sleep.

According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, many Apple teams are working on the project, which has the code name “Quartz,” including the company’s health, Siri, and AI teams.

Apple is apparently also developing software for measuring emotions and has plans to release an iPad version of the iPhone Health app this year.

Users of the emotion tracker will be able to record their mood, respond to questions about their day, and view a timeline of their progress.

It’s expected that Apple will reveal the new iPad Health app at its Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) in June. Apple has also added a number of helpful features, such as safe listening features, headphone accommodations, sound recognition, and more, to aid individuals in monitoring and protecting their hearing health.

As a way to aid in the exploration of new areas in heart health, Apple has also given Apple Watch units to international experts.

Presently available heart health features for Apple Watch include notifications for high and low heart rates, cardio activity, notifications for abnormal heartbeats, the ECG app, and a history of atrial fibrillation (AFib).

Researchers can use the company’s recently introduced Investigator Support Programme to advance understanding of the heart using Apple Watch devices.
