BJP Delhi blames AAP for uncleanliness in Yamuna

Virendra Sachdeva, the Delhi BJP president, has said that in the past eight years the Delhi government has done nothing concrete to clean Yamuna but lieutenant governor VK Saxena was working in mission mode in this direction.

“He has, in barely four to five months, got over half of the Yamuna’s 30 km stretch in Delhi cleaned. We hope to see a clean Yamuna before the G20 summit,” said Sachdeva at the Yamuna Sansad meeting at Ramjas College.

“It is unfortunate that in over two decades, subsequent governments have ignored the importance of preserving the Yamuna and turned the river into drain.” added the President.

However, two months ago, former Deputy CM of Delhi, Manish Sisodia had claimed that, “We have set a target to complete the cleaning of the Yamuna river by the year 2025. Under this project, the capacity of Yamuna Vihar STP will be increased from 45 MGD to 70 MGD so that clean water is disposed off in the Yamuna.”

Furthermore, Sisodia earlier on also said, “The Delhi government is working in a phased manner to increase the capacity of various water treatment plants in different areas of the national capital and to clean the Yamuna.”
