Burwan (Murshidabad), 16.04.2022: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) started conducting raids at six locations in Bengal in connection with West Bengal Teacher Recruitment scam, including residence of TMC MLA Jiban Krishna Saha in Burwan, a small village in Murshidabad.

CBI began the search operations around Friday, shortly before Shah arrived in Bengal to launch the party’s campaign for 2024 Lok Sabha elections and continued till night. Trinamool Congress MLA Jiban Krishna Saha threw his mobile phones in a pond while CBI was conducting a raid in his residence. On Friday at 1:30 p.m. the raid was started and still underway.

According to the latest information, CBI sleuths have been pumping out water from the pond in which Saha has thrown his phones. One of the mobile phones has been discovered. CBI is still in search of the other phone and pen drive. The recovery of phones is important as this can lead to crucial clues relating to the teacher recruitment scam.

On Friday, during his interrogation Saha excused himself to go to the washroom. After getting permission for the washroom he went to the pond adjacent to his house and threw his two phones and pen drive. The CBI found various incriminating items during searches, including documents with the list of candidates and sums claimed against them, as well as recruitment materials for primary and secondary teachers.

During the course of investigation of expelled youth TMC leader Kuntal Ghosh, the CBI sleuths came across Kaushik Ghosh, a local agent. Kaushik mainly acted as an agent in Murshidabad and his task was to arrange for the candidates who are willing to pay a hefty amount of money for getting appointments in the state government schools in Bengal. From Kaushik, the CBI came to know about Saha’s part of involvement in the teacher recruitment scam of Bengal.
