Since its establishment in 2014, the Indian Super League (ISL) has kept football fans in the country entertained. The Hero Indian Super League (ISL) organizer confirmed on Friday that the playoff and final dates for the 2022-23 season, will take place in March. Finally, the playoffs will begin on March 3, 2023, with the final to be held on March 18, 2023.
The top two clubs at the end of the league stage will advance to the semi-finals under the new system. Teams finishing third through the sixth place will compete in a single-leg play-off to decide the remaining two semi-finalists.
After the league stage, the two one-leg play-off matches between the fourth and fifth-place clubs and the third and sixth-place teams will be held on March 3 and 4, respectively. The matches will be hosted by the third and fourth-place teams. The four semi-final home-and-away matches will take place on March 7, 9, 12, and 13.
Format and dates of playoffs based on League table positions :-
- Knockout 1: March 3rd – 4 (Home team) against 5 (Away Team)
- Knockout 2: March 4th – 3 (Home team) against 6 (Away)
- Semi-final 1 – First Leg: March 7th – 1 (Home team) against Knockout 1 Winner
- Semi-final 2 – 1st leg: 9th March – 2 (Home team) against Knockout 2 Winner
- Semi-final 1 – 2nd leg: March 12th – Knockout 1 (Home team) against 1st place
- Semi-final 2 – 2nd leg: March 13th – Winner of Knockout 2 (Home team) against 2nd place

In addition, for the first time in Hero ISL history, six clubs will get the opportunity to compete ahead of the league stage for the Hero ISL trophy. So, Mumbai City FC and Hyderabad FC have already advanced to the next round, with tight competition for the remaining four berths. However, out of 11 teams competing with each other only Mumbai City FC and the current title winner Hyderabad FC are the 1st qualifiers.
