Chhattisgarh: Priyanka Gandhi to launch state tribal scheme

A state government scheme for tribals will be launched in Jagdalpur city in Bastar district during Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra’s one-day trip to Chhattisgarh, officials said.

The ‘Mukhyamantri Adivasi Parab Samman Nidhi Yojana’ is being launched at the “Bharose Ka Sammelan” sponsored by the Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel.

According to this scheme, under which tribal festivals, fairs, and religious activities will be funded from, the state government will be providing Rs 10,000 (in two installments) to the Gram Panchayats in the scheduled areas.

It will involve the chief minister disbursing Rs 5,000 per gram panchayat, for 1,840 gram panchayats in the seven districts of the Bastar division.

Several tribal cultures and traditions are being preserved through the scheme, officials said.

On January 26th of this year, the Union Minister Baghel announced the establishment of the ‘Samman Nidhi Yojana’ for the Adivasis. Officials have confirmed that Rs 5 crore has been provided for the purpose of implementing the scheme in the financial year 2023-24, as announced earlier.

Priyanka Gandhi will be visiting the state for the second time this year so far, when assembly elections are due to be held in the state ruled by Congress in six months time. It was during the plenary session of the Congress in February in which she had visited the state a few months earlier.
