Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal thanked his counterpart Pinarayi Vijayan in Kerala for raising his voice against the “Illegal arrest” of the opposition leaders of the country. Kejriwal commented on this issue after Pinarayi Vijayan wrote to Prime Minister Narendra Modi against the alleged misuse of central probe agencies against the non-BJP leaders. This comment focused mainly on the AAP leaders as well as Kejriwal’s support towards Deputy Chief minister Manish Sisodia. In his letter to the Prime Minister, Pinarayi Vijayan said, “Manish Sisodia is an elected representative of the people and has been appearing before the investigating agencies in response to the summons. Unless the arrest was an imperative for improving the impediment to the investigators the desirable act would have been to avoid it.”

Word from the Chief Minister

The Chief Minister also added, even though the law must take its course, there is a widespread perception that Manish Sisodia is being targeted particularly for political reasons. CM Arvind Kejriwal also pointed out that he was grateful for the support he got from Pinarayi Vijayan. He also tweeted, “Thank you Hon’ble CM Kerala Shri @pinarayivijayan ji for raising voice against illegal arrests of leaders across India.”

Pinarayi Vijayan also said, “As we emphasize on the principle of cooperative federalism, excessive actions on the part of anyone concerned should be avoided.” The arrest of the Deputy Chief minister, Manish Sisodia done by the Central Bureau of Investigation was done because of his connection with the Delhi liquor policy case. The Aam Aadmi Party also alleged that the CBI is mentally harassing Manish Sisodia who is currently in Judicial Custody.
