Based on the latest updates, February 14, 2023 has now been changed to ‘Cow Hug Day’. On this special occasion the citizens are inspired to show some love and affection to cows and simply cuddle with them. Cows are considered holy in the Hindu customs and are said to remove negative energy. The new practice of the ’Cow Hug Day’ was introduced with the intention that it will reduce the glorification of the foreign culture and throw some light on Indian customs as well as traditions.
It is necessary to point out that even though Valentine’s day is great way to celebrate love, it also comes with drawbacks. Particularly in India, there are still people who aren’t comfortable with others showing affection in public places and they even go to the extent of criticizing them. However, almost all of this backlash is directed towards women stating that this promotes inappropriate behavior.
This practice is the newest step taken by the Bharatiya Janata Party led by Narendra Modi. It gives importance to the well-being of animals all over the country. Cows in particular, are a crucial to the Indian cultures and this step taken by Modi inspires people to look after not only cows but other animals and respect them. As a matter of fact, almost all the states of India have banned the slaughter of cows and the usage of beef. The release of this campaign is a great way to make people have compassion and love for animals.
