Dharmendra Pradhan, a Union Minister, is named the BJP’s poll in-charge for Karnataka

Dharmendra Pradhan, a Union Minister, was selected by the Bharatiya Janata Party as its representative for the forthcoming Karnataka assembly elections on Saturday.

K Annamalai, the head of the Tamil Nadu BJP, has been appointed co-in-charge of the elections. Opposition parties including the Congress, JD(U), and the Aam Aadmi Party have been active in the campaign. The most likely dates for the elections are April and May 2023. In the past, the official(Pradhan), who is currently the Cabinet’s Minister of Education and Minister of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, was responsible with managing a number of elections.

Arun Singh, the BJP’s national general secretary, who is in charge of the party’s operations in Karnataka, made the announcements on these organizational changes. One BJP leader claims that the party wants to win over Tamil-speakers in Bengaluru and some of Kola.

Since the late Ananthkumar, he has been in charge of the BJP’s operations in Karnataka. In the past, when previous chief minister BS Yediyurappa split from the BJP prior to the 2013 Assembly elections, Pradhan served as a conduit between the state and central leadership. He has extensive local knowledge. Pradhan, who is now seen as close to Union Home Minister Amit Shah, “has information on the different power centers operating in the state,” a BJP insider claimed.

“The population of Bengaluru and its neighborhood is 30% Tamil-speaking. In his state as well, Annamalai is rising as a Tamil leader. During his time as an IPS officer in the state, he was often referred to be a “rough cop”. Thus, he would be able to speak Kannada as well to appeal to the state’s youthful people”- a Chikmagalur-based BJP leader stated.
