Five Foreign Terrorists Killed in Encounter in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kupwara

Date: June 16, 2023

In a significant development, security forces in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kupwara district encountered and neutralized five foreign terrorists in an operation on Friday. The encounter took place in the Jumagund area of the Line of Control (LoC) following specific intelligence inputs provided by the Kupwara Police. The encounter marks the first major infiltration attempt in the region this year.

The joint operation, conducted by the Indian Army and the Jammu and Kashmir Police, commenced after receiving credible information about the presence of terrorists in the area. The encounter resulted in the elimination of all five foreign terrorists. The security forces are currently carrying out a search operation in the region to ensure the area is fully secure.

Confirming the encounter, Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) Kashmir, Vijay Kumar, provided an update on the successful operation against the terrorists. The Kashmir Zone Police also tweeted about the encounter, stating that further details would be shared soon.

This recent encounter follows a previous joint operation by the Indian Army and the Jammu and Kashmir Police on June 13, where two terrorists were eliminated in the Dobanar Machhal area of the Kupwara district. The search operation for any remaining threats in that operation is still ongoing.

Additionally, on June 2, a terrorist was killed in a separate encounter with security forces in Rajouri district. The operation was initiated in response to suspicious movement noticed in the forest area of Dassal Gujran near Rajouri. The joint cordon and search operation conducted by the army and police successfully neutralized the terrorist.

The encounters and successful operations against terrorists highlight the continuous efforts of security forces in Jammu and Kashmir to maintain peace and thwart infiltration attempts. The vigilance and coordination between the Indian Army, Jammu, and Kashmir Police, and other security agencies have played a vital role in ensuring the safety and security of the region.

The elimination of these foreign terrorists is a significant achievement and underscores the determination of the security forces to combat terrorism in the region. The success of these operations boosts the morale of the forces and sends a strong message to those seeking to disrupt peace and stability in Jammu and Kashmir.

The security forces remain committed to safeguarding the lives of civilians and maintaining peace in the region. The continuous efforts to neutralize terrorists and thwart infiltration attempts contribute to creating a secure environment for the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
