Former Chief Minister and JD(S) leader, H.D. Kumaraswamy, has been admitted to Apollo Speciality Hospital in Bengaluru due to health concerns. He was rushed to the hospital after experiencing weakness and discomfort in his limbs. The medical team, led by senior consultant neurologist P. Satishchandra, swiftly attended to him.
According to Govindaiah Yateesh, the vice president and unit head of the hospital, Kumaraswamy suffered an acute brain stroke. This critical incident occurred around 3:40 a.m. on Wednesday, August 30. Kumaraswamy reported slurred speech, limb weakness, and discomfort, prompting his prompt admission to the hospital.
The medical team quickly rushed for evaluation and treatment which yielded positive results. He is currently in stable condition, demonstrating comfortable movement of his limbs and maintaining coherence. Continuous monitoring has been instituted to ensure his progress.
Dr. Satishchandra specified the significance of the initial hour following a stroke, often referred to as the “golden hour.” An Instant or quick medical intervention during this period can contribute significantly to increasing the chances of survival and subsequently reducing the risk of long-term brain damage.
Kumaraswamy will remain under observation for approximately two to three days. Once this observation period concludes, he is expected to resume his normal activities without impediment.
Anitha Kumaraswamy, Mr Kumaraswamy’s wife, provided assurance that he would be discharged from the hospital on Friday. This incident serves as a reminder of the importance of prompt medical attention in cases of acute health events.
