Google Slapped with $44,582 Fine by Russian Court Over Ukraine Content

In the ongoing clash between Russia and global tech giants over content, censorship, data, and local representation, Alphabet’s Google has found itself on the receiving end of a 4 million rouble ($44,582) fine from a Russian court.

The court’s decision, reported by the RIA news agency, centres around Google’s failure to promptly remove content related to Russia’s “special military operation” in Ukraine, deemed false by the court. The fine comes as a consequence of the company’s non-compliance with Russian regulations regarding content removal.
