Pandya has astonished everyone with his performances and leadership abilities after his return to cricket after suffering a terrible back injury during the Asia Cup 2018. He guided Gujarat Titans to the IPL championship in their inaugural season in 2022.
Pandya has risen to No. 2 in T20Is in the new ICC men’s all-rounder rankings. He is only two points behind top-ranked Bangladesh’s Shakib-Al-Hasan with a total of 250 points. Mohammad Nabi of Afghanistan, Wanindu Hasaranga of Sri Lanka, and J.J. Smit of Namibia are the next three in the rankings.
Pandya was named Player of the Series after a great effort in the just-ended T20I series against New Zealand. The 29-year-old grabbed the joint-most wickets in the series, collecting five in three matches, and also scored 66 runs at an average of 33.00. He also guided India to a series victories over Sri Lanka and New Zealand at home. Because of his captaincy abilities, several analysts believe he should be Team India’s regular skipper in the shortest format.
India’s Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin continue to hold the top two spots in the Test all-rounder rankings. Jadeja leads with 369 points, while Ashwin comes in second with 343 points. However, there is no Indian in the top five ODI all-rounder rankings.
Suryakumar Yadav of India continues to lead the rankings for batsmen in T20Is with 906 points, while Mohammed Siraj leads the rankings for bowlers in ODIs with 729 points.
