A Maoist IED blast killed ten policemen and a driver in Dantewada, Chhattisgarh, on Wednesday. During an anti-Naxalite operation, the District Reserve Guard (DRG) was returning from the field when the blast occurred. Left-wing extremists are countered in Chhattisgarh by the DRG.
Upon receiving intelligence about Maoist activity in an area within the boundaries of Aranpur Police Station, the DRG was dispatched from Dantewada for an anti-Naxalite operation. Near Raipur, the state capital, the area is 450 km away. During the team’s return from the operation, a blast occurred.
In a tragic incident, ten policemen and a driver lost their lives. Chhattisgarh government has been assured of all possible assistance from the central government. Additionally, he expressed his condolences to Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel.
