In the middle of the clip, Shiromani Gurudwara Parbandhak Committee’s Official has a heated argument with a woman with face paint “This is not India but Punjab and this is not nonsense.”

The whole mess started when an SGPC Official stopped a woman from entering the ‘Golden Temple’ on Monday in Punjab’s Amritsar. The woman made a video in which we see a little bit face of her, and the man accompanying her asked the official why did he refuse her to enter inside to which the official replied by telling because of the Tricolour tattoo on her cheek and that “This is not India, but Punjab and this is not nonsense”. He also tried to snatch her phone at the end of the clip.

She had Tricolour paint on her cheek as it is a common practice of visitors every evening at the Attari-Wagh joint check post to watch the ‘Beating the Retreat’ ceremony, she said

As the video went viral, several social media users criticized the incident, and Gurcharan Singh Grewal the general secretary of Shiromani Gurudwara Parbandhak Committee issued a clarification.

“This is a Sikh Shrine. Every religious place has its decorum… we apologize if an official misbehaved…The flag on her face was not our National Flag as it didn’t have Ashoka Chakra. It could have been a political flag,” told ANI

He also added that “Sikh played an important role in the freedom of the Country, but every time it is the Sikh who targeted”.
