“It was not his degree, it was his charisma that got him to win the 2014 elections,” Ajit Pawar

The Nationalist Congress Party’s (NCP) leader, Ajit Pawar, expressed his opinion on the issue of ministers’ educational backgrounds on Tuesday, saying that people should pay attention to what a leader has accomplished during their time.

In response to a question concerning the educational background of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Ajit Pawar said, “In 2014, people did not vote for Prime Minister Modi on the basis of his degree; it was his charm that he had built which helped him win the elections.”

He has now served as the nation’s representative for more than nine years. It is unfair to inquire about his degree. He should be questioned on topics like unemployment and inflation. In his remarks at a public gathering, he said that the minister’s degree was not a crucial factor.

Would inflation decrease if we clarify his degree, he continued. When individuals learn the status of their degree, will they be hired?

Arvind Kejriwal, the chief minister of Delhi, has previously suggested that Prime Minister Modi make his academic credentials available to the public.

The nation shouldn’t even be allowed to know how much its prime minister has learned. He objected strenuously to displaying his academic credentials in court. Why? And there will be fines for anyone who asks to see their degree? What is going on here? A PM who is illiterate or has a low level of education is highly hazardous for the nation, he said.

His comments came shortly after the Gujarat High Court last week overturned the Chief Information Commission’s (CIC) judgment and said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s office was not required to provide the diplomas for his undergraduate and graduate degrees.

The decision was made by a single-judge panel led by Justice Biren Vaishnav, who overturned the CIC’s directive to the PMO, Gujarat University, and Delhi University to provide information on PM Modi’s undergraduate and graduate degrees.
