Jadeja speaks up about his knee injury

Ravindra Jadeja spoke on his knee ailment, adding that even if he postponed surgery, his prospects of playing in the 2022 T20 World Cup in Australia were slim.

Last year, Jadeja was forced to withdraw from the Asia Cup in 2022 due to a knee injury and underwent successful surgery. As a result, he was unable to compete in the T20 World Cup last year in Australia.

The 34-year-old has been chosen to India’s teams for the first two Test matches of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. He also stated that his doctor urged him to get done with the operation before the T20 World Cup. He has been out of action since then, except for a Ranji Trophy match for Saurashtra. In a Ranji Trophy match against Saurashtra, Tamil Nadu had won by 59 runs, and Jadeja recorded figures of 7/53.

Jadeja also thanked the National Cricket Academy’s (NCA) physios and trainers for their assistance in his quest to make a return to India. He said that it was difficult to watch India perform while he was on the bench.

He stated in an interview with BCCI – “I was eagerly waiting to make a comeback and play for India. I had been struggling with my knee for some time, so surgery was needed. I had to take the decision whether to go for the surgery before the World Cup or after. Doctors advised me to do it before the World Cup because chances were less of playing at the World Cup had I not got the surgery done. So, I made up my mind to go for it,”

The Border-Gavaskar Trophy between India and Australia will get off in Nagpur on February 9 where both the teams India and Australia are hoping to make a winning start.
