North Korean leader Kim Jong Un is on his way home after a successful visit to Russia
North Korean leader Kim Jong Un is headed home aboard a train from Russia. Russian news agencies reported that Kim discussed military cooperation with President Vladimir Putin. He was visiting Russia for a week.Â
RIA, a Russian news agency, released a video of Kim walking up a red carpet towards a train carriage. He was in the Far East city of Artyom bidding farewell to the public with a military band in the background. Artyom is 254 kilometres from Khasan Station, the closest border with North Korea.
Kim Jong Un rarely leaves his home country and visits other states. KCNA, the North Korean news agency, states that the visit marks renewed cooperation in military ties between the DPRK and Russia.Â
The ties between Russia and North Korean worry North American allies. Russia has vowed to continue its invasion of Ukraine while North Korea, a reclusive communist state, is engaging in nuclear expansion.Â
South Korea and the United States state that the growing relations between the two countries violate the U.S.-imposed sanctions on Pyongyang. If Kim Jong Un violates the sanctions, America and its allies will make North Korea pay the price.
Public knowledge of Kim Jung Un visit
Russia had made the North Korean leader’s visit public. The country dropped hints of renewed military cooperation with the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, formed in 1948. The then Soviet Union had backed North Korea.
Kin Jong Un and Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu met during his visit. Shoigu showed Kim Russian armaments and missiles.
North Korea and Russia are considering joint military exercises. Shoigu had visited Pyongyang and toured a weapons exhibit with Kim. It was a sign of strengthening ties between the two countries.
