KSRTC bus driver jumps into pond to rescue two girls who were drowning

A KSRTC bus driver was honoured for his bravery after preventing two girls from drowning in a pond on Sunday near the Tumakuru area of Karnataka. Sushma (17) and Manjula (12), the two girls, were washing laundry with their mother when they fell into the river. The bus driver claims that the mother who asked him to save her girls from drowning in the pond when she stopped her bus near the Handigunte Gate in Sira Taluk did so on a typical day.

Knowing how to swim, he plunged into the pond without hesitation and pulled the sisters back to land in safety. Manjunath told the reporters that they were both unconscious and had consumed a lot of water. At the time of the tragedy, he was transporting about 40 passengers from Sira to Nagappanahalli Gate. Manjunath continued the journey in his drenched suit after saving the girls. He has been operating on the route for five years, and both females would board his bus to travel to and from college and high school. Manjunath added, “I am very delighted that I was able to save them,” the bus driver says.

The depot manager for Sira later praised him for his heroism. He has been operating on the route for five years, and both females would board his bus to travel to and from college and high school.
