Manish Sisodia put in Judicial Custody

The former deputy chief minister of Delhi, Manish Sisodia was detained and put into judicial custody until March 20 in connection with an excise scam case. The decision to detain him was made after the CBI or Central Bureau of Investigation stated that the case did not require the custody of the senior Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader at that time. The case took another step forward when Sisodia was introduced before the special judge MK Nagpal. This was done to discuss the expiry of his seven-day custodial interrogation which was earlier allowed by the court.

Action taken by the court

The matter got worse when the CBI accused the AAP supporters of politicizing the matter. The court also made the statement, “An application to send the accused to judicial custody has been filed. It is submitted that the CBI custody is no longer required and the same may be sought later, if required. In view of submission made, the accused is sent to JC till March 20.”

The court allowed Sisodia to perform vipassana meditation while in detention. It also let him carry the Bhagwat Gita, his spectacles, medicines and various other items. The Tihar jail was made aware of these conditions set by Sisodia and that the court was already aware of it. Even though the court took effective and immediate action on this case the verdict is still not confirmed. As of now, Manish Sisodia will remain in judicial custody till 20th of March. The investigation into his case is also in process and any further updates should be available to us soon. For more such updates and important headlines subscribe to STMN news.
