Meta merges business messaging and advertising product categories

According to a corporate executive’s internal letter, John Hegeman, Meta Platforms has combined its departments for advertising products, business messaging, and commerce into one division, the Information reported on Thursday.

According to the article, the action is a part of a larger initiative by the social media business to lower the ranks of middle management.

A request for comment from Reuters was not immediately answered by Meta.

As it works towards CEO Mark Zuckerberg’s goal of making 2023 the “year of efficiency,” the owner of Facebook and Instagram has also launched an aggressive cost-cutting drive, with plans to eliminate 21,000 jobs and flatten its middle-management structure.
