NCP Chief to be Chosen Tomorrow by Panel Appointed by Pawar

The Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) will elect its new leader on Friday at a meeting of the committee Sharad Pawar formed. If Pawar insists on quitting, according to sources close to the NCP, Supriya Sule is the front-runner for the job.

Following Pawar’s declaration, a number of resignations have been submitted, including those of the NCP’s state general secretary, Jitendra Awhad, and all of the party’s officers for the Thane unit.

Ajit Pawar, the nephew and party leader of Pawar, has said that the seasoned politician is rethinking his resignation. Chhagan Bhujbal, a senior NCP leader and former cabinet minister, has proposed that Supriya Sule be appointed the NCP’s national president and Ajit Pawar be given control of politics in Maharashtra.

Bhujbal is the first person to openly support Sule for the position; he is a member of the committee Pawar created to choose the party’s future leader. Additionally, he has said that the committee might need to choose one leader for the position if Pawar does not decide to reconsider his resignation.

Members of the committee are now meeting in Mumbai, and they are anticipated to come from several states. The committee will convene its first meeting after confirming the attendance of all members to discuss choosing the NCP’s next president.

Given the NCP’s prominence as a major force in Indian politics, the choice of its leader is of utmost importance. In Maharashtra, where it has historically been a strong force, the NCP is well-represented. The next president’s choice will decide the party’s future course and its capacity to continue influencing Indian politics.
