New Delhi: A quiet neighbourhood in Jaffarpur Kalan, adjacent to west Delhi’s Dwarka, was shaken by a gruesome incident on Monday as a man brutally stabbed his neighbour to death, fueled by suspicions of “black magic.” The attacker, identified as 44-year-old Vinod, also injured another individual who had bravely intervened to stop the attack. Delhi Police swiftly apprehended the suspect within hours of the chilling incident.
The victim, 47-year-old Sunil, and Vinod shared a common neighbourhood in Surhera village of Jaffarpur Kalan. Sunil, a farmer, and Vinod, seemingly ordinary neighbours, had their lives intertwined by a series of confrontations, which eventually took a tragic turn.
The feud had its roots in a dispute over a week ago, involving open defecation on Sunil’s farmland. This initial quarrel appeared to fester, leading to a renewed altercation on Monday. During this latest confrontation, Vinod reportedly escalated the situation by resorting to a shocking act of violence.
Using a kitchen knife, Vinod allegedly attacked Sunil with a ferocity that resulted in the farmer’s tragic demise. The incident unfolded in the presence of their stunned neighbours, underscoring the sudden eruption of violence in the usually peaceful community.
Rajpal, another neighbour, demonstrated tremendous courage by intervening in an attempt to save Sunil from Vinod’s attack. Unfortunately, Rajpal also fell victim to the assailant’s brutality and sustained injuries from the same murder weapon.

The injured Rajpal, aged 58, is currently undergoing treatment at a local hospital, where he is in the process of recovery.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Dwarka) M Harsha Vardhan stated, “The suspect, identified as 44-year-old Vinod, was arrested within hours of the murder.” The swift apprehension of the suspect highlights the Delhi Police’s dedication to maintaining law and order in the community.
The police have filed charges of murder and attempted murder in connection with this tragic incident. The motive behind the attack remains a subject of intense investigation. Authorities are diligently questioning Vinod to uncover the factors that led him to harbor suspicions of ‘black magic’ and escalate the dispute to such a violent and fatal extent.
