New Delhi Gears Up For G20 Summit

The G20 Summit, scheduled for September 9–10, will convene at Delhi’s modern Pragati Maidan conference center. The 18th G20 Heads of State and Government Summit follows a year of conferences, conversations, and activities involving ministers, officials, and civil organizations. In preparation for hosting global leaders, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) and various ministries are reserving 35 hotels to accommodate attendees. Additionally, renowned five-star hotels like the Taj Palace, Maurya, Sheraton, Le Meridien, Shangri-La, Imperial, Oberoi, and Leela will reportedly host top dignitaries.

Accommodations and Hospitality for Dignitaries

Carefully chosen accommodations await top leaders. Chinese President Xi Jinping is expected to reside at Taj Palace. The US President Joe Biden will stay at ITC Maurya. In anticipation of their arrival, these hotels are enhancing especially dining spaces, furnishings, and customer service. Various hotel chains are implementing specific strategies, including recruiting more staff, to ensure a seamless experience. All these efforts align with the G20 ethos of “Atithi Devo Bhava” (The Guest is God).

Declaration and Leaders’ Commitments

A G20 Leaders’ Declaration will conclude the summit, reflecting leaders’ commitments to priorities discussed in ministerial meetings leading up to the event. Altogether the declaration signifies a consensus on raised salient points.

MCD’s Plans for a Cleaner City

Preparing for the event, the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) initiated a cleaning campaign for 26 major city roads. It includes Mathura Road and Mahatma Gandhi Road. Nodal officers and teams will employ vehicles and Mechanical Road Sweeping Machines (MRSMs) for cleanliness. Additionally the MCD aims to establish a G20-themed park in Greater Kailash-2’s M-Block.

As the G20 Summit nears, Delhi actively organizes to welcome global leaders and improve its appearance and infrastructure. Accordingly India’s commitment is evident in meticulous dignitary accommodations. Certainly the forthcoming Leaders’ Declaration will advance international cooperation, marking a milestone in global relations.
