NIA to take over the the investigation into Pro-Khalistani attacks on Indian High Commission in Canada and US

Following the UK, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) is now likely to investigate the attacks by Khalistani elements on the Indian High Commission in Canada and the United States. The most significant development occurred several weeks after FIRs were filed under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) by the Delhi Police Special Cell. The case has now been assigned to the NIA, according to Indian TV sources.

Pro-Khalistani protesters attempted to demolish the Indian High Commission at London in March and tore down the national flag while staging protests outside the building. The incident occurred one day after the Punjab Police began their investigation into the violent preacher Amritpal Singh in Punjab. Later, similar assaults were reported in the United States and Canada.

The Indian authorities then summoned the officials of the concerned nations and condemned the act. The “attempted but failed” attack had been stopped, according to Mission officials, and the tricolour was now flying “grander.” According to the Metropolitan Police, two members of the security staff suffered minor injuries that did not necessitate hospitalisation.

This past week, the NIA released five videos and asked the general public for help identifying people who were involved in the violent protests in March of this year. The NIA posted the nearly two-hour CCTV footage on its website and shared a link on its official Twitter handle, urging people to share any information they have about the people in the videos.
