Odisha : Matrix answer sheet taken home, returned during evaluation

In an unusual incident, a class 10 student from Upendranath High School in Khirakona, identified as Rani Malik, took her answer sheet home after finishing her math exam at Damodar High School in Jamujhadi, Balasore. It was alleged that she did not inform the invigilators before leaving the examination hall.

When the evaluators started marking the answer sheets, Rani’s attendance and answer sheet were not found. The invigilators collected the wrong copies, and the missing answer sheet caused concern among school authorities.

After a search, it was discovered that Rani had taken the answer sheet home with her. According to Rani, she forgot to collect the answer sheet and only picked up the OMR sheet. When the school authorities requested the answer sheet, it took her 15-20 days to provide it to them.

Balasore DEO, Bishnu Charan Sutar, confirmed that a math answer sheet was missing and that the BSE helped the school authorities retrieve the answer copy. The superintendent had initially denied any knowledge of the incident, but the Board of Secondary Education intervened and recovered the missing answer sheet.

Sutar stated that they would investigate the matter further and take disciplinary action, if necessary.

In conclusion, it is crucial for students to follow proper examination protocol and ensure that they do not leave any answer sheets behind. It can cause unnecessary stress and anxiety for both the student and the school authorities, and it is essential to avoid such incidents in the future.
