Parkash Singh Badal Cremated at Ancestral Village, Leaders Pay Respects

On Wednesday, the former Chief Minister of the Indian state of Punjab, Parkash Singh Badal, was cremated at his ancestral village. Leaders from across the political diaspora paid their felicitations to the expert politician, who passed away on Monday at the age of 94.

Funeral Procession and Cremation Ceremony

The burial procession of Badal began from his residence in Chandigarh and proceeded to his ancestral village of Badal in Muktsar district, where a large number of people, including politicians, activists, and locals, attended the last rites.

Paeans from Leaders

Leaders across the political diaspora, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, paid homage to Badal. Modi described him as a” proud son of Punjab” and a” towering figure in Indian politics.” Gandhi, on the other hand, called Badal a” reputed leader” who” served Punjab with utmost fidelity.”

Badal’s heritage

Badal was a five- time Chief Minister of Punjab and one of the most prominent politicians from the state. His contributions to the agriculture sector and efforts towards promoting peace and development in the state were recognized.

Badal’s Political trip

Badal’s political journey began in the 1950s when he joined the Akali Dal party. He served as the Chief Minister of Punjab for the first time in 1970 and went on to hold the position four further times. He also served as a Member of Parliament and was a member of the Rajya Sabha.

The cremation of Parkash Singh Badal marks the end of a period in Punjab politics. His heritage will continue to inspire unborn generations of politicians and leaders.
