Patna opposition meet a ‘good beginning’ ahead of 2024 LS polls: TMC

The Trinamool Congress emphasized the significance of anti-BJP parties uniting against “undemocratic and authoritarian policies,” calling Friday’s opposition meeting in Patna, Bihar, a “good beginning” prior to the 2024 general elections.

Rahul Gandhi, Mamata Banerjee, M K Stalin, Sharad Pawar, Mehbooba Mufti, and Hemant Soren, as well as Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, are all expected to attend the meeting that was called by JD(U) supremo and Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, who left the BJP last year.

Banerjee will be joined by TMC public general secretary and her nephew Abhishek Banerjee for the resistance meeting.

The TMC supremeo had stated that her party would support the grand old party in areas where it is strong in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, but that she would expect a seat-sharing formula to give priority to regional players in areas where they were strong after the Congress’ massive victory in the Karnataka polls earlier this month.

Since separating from the BJP in August of last year, supreme leader Kumar of the JD(U) has been advocating for “opposition unity.”

The opposition meeting that was proposed was called a “futile exercise” and an “opportunistic alliance would not yield any result,” according to the BJP.
