Pawar counters Uddhav over Modi’s degree row

The Maha Vikas Aghadi is all set to clash with the ruling Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP), organizing multiple public rallies across the state. While this aggressive brand of politics is being played, NCP leader Ajit Pawar is on a backfoot.

The story started A day after Former CM Uddhav Thackeray mocked Prime Minister Modi over his refusal to show his degree. At a rally in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Thackeray in his speech questioned the PM about his degree. “What type of degree does he possess that he cannot show to anyone? The college in which he studied should be proud of him, but why can’t that college show that proud feeling,” asked Thackeray.

Pawar, who is popularly known as ‘Dada’ in the state, said that issue like inflation and law and order were more important than the PM’s degree.

Pawar emphasized that Narendra Modi has been the Prime Minister of India for nine years now. And this was not because he had a degree. He stated that this row over the PM’s degree has gone stale now.

Pawar in a press conference at the party headquarters on Monday qoyed that, “I think day-to-day problems of common people are more important and we should focus our concentration on those issues,”

Pawar said that more than the PM’s degree is not important.  This is not the first time he has countered the arguments made by fellow members of the alliance. The fact that Ajit (Dada) Pawar had formed an government with Devendra Fadnavis is hard to ignore.
Over the years there have been many rumors and speculations about Pawar joining hands with the BJP, but nothing concrete has come out yet. Whether it’s the overwhelming presence of Sharad Pawar, stopping Ajit Pawar or the power struggle with Supriya Sule, that remains to be seen.
