PM Modi Inaugurates Mega Conference on International Day of Cooperatives, Highlights Future Strategic Policy Directions

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate a two-day mega cooperative conference on the occasion of the International Day of Cooperatives. The conference, organized by the National Cooperative Union of India (NCUI), aims to discuss various trends in the cooperative movement and formulate strategic policy directions for the sector’s growth in the country. The event will witness the launch of an e-commerce platform called ‘NCUI Haat’ for cooperative products and a cooperative extension and advisory services portal. Representatives from eight countries will also attend the conference to share reform measures and best practices from successful cooperatives worldwide.

Event Details:

The 17th Indian Cooperative Congress, themed ‘Amrit Kaal-Prosperity through Cooperation for a Vibrant India,’ will be presided over by Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah. The conference holds special significance as it coincides with the International Day of Cooperatives celebrated on July 1. The event will provide a platform for discussions on challenges faced by the cooperative sector and the formulation of effective action plans for the future.

Key Highlights:

Launch of ‘NCUI Haat’ E-commerce Platform:

Prime Minister Modi will unveil an e-commerce platform called ‘NCUI Haat,’ which will facilitate the sale of cooperative products. This platform aims to promote and market cooperative goods to a larger audience, boosting the cooperative sector’s growth.

Cooperative Extension and Advisory Services Portal:

As part of the conference, the Prime Minister will also launch a cooperative extension and advisory services portal. This portal will include a learning management system that provides information and services for cooperative members, leaders, managers, and the general public. It will act as a comprehensive resource hub for cooperative-related information and support.

International Participation: 

The conference will witness the participation of representatives from Nepal, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Iran, Malaysia, the Philippines, and other countries. These international participants will contribute by sharing reform measures and showcasing best practices adopted by successful cooperatives in their respective countries.
