‘Political rivalry’ in Kendrapara leads to the death of a man

In Kendrapara district late on Friday night, there were reports of a man being stabbed to death over a political rivalry in Dahianta village under the jurisdiction of the Aul Police. 

Among those who have died, Amit Kumar Patra of the village Sahira has been identified as the victim. Amit Jena was accompanied by his brother-in-law Sanjay Jena, along with other family members, as they attended a village function in Dahianta village.

It was at this time that another villager attacked the two of them with a knife while they were returning home, leaving the two seriously injured.

The medical professionals at Pattamundai hospital declared Amit dead after observing him bleed profusely. Amit and Sanjay were immediately transported to Pattamundai hospital where doctors declared him dead.

Sanjay’s condition is said to be critical, as he was also injured in the attack.

Amit’s relatives suspect the attack was the result of political rivalry, although the exact cause has yet to be determined.

Amit was attacking me and lying in a pool of blood when I received the call. The doctors declared him dead as soon as he was brought to the hospital. According to Kishore Chandra Patra, uncle of the deceased, political rivalry may have caused the attack.

A police investigation is ongoing into the matter and the accused has been detained for questioning.

As a result of an altercation between Amit and Sanjay, Rashmi Ranja Roul attacked them with a knife. The attack left Amit in critical condition, while Sanjay suffered critical injuries. In Pattamundai, Sub Divisional Police Officer Sandhyarani Behura said that the accused has been detained and questions are being conducted.
