Political Tensions Escalate in Jharsuguda Ahead of By-Polls

Political tensions are running high in Odisha’s Jharsuguda as Biju Janata Dal (BJD), Congress and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) are fighting a bitter battle ahead of the upcoming elections.

The polls are scheduled to be held in the wake of the tragic death of Congress MLA Nabakishore Das earlier this year.

The ruling BJP has fielded Rita Sahoo, widow of the late MLA, as its candidate, while the Congress has picked Dasharathi Gamang and the BJP has fielded Kunur Dev Singh. The rivalry has become ugly with reports of violence, vandalism and clashes between party workers.

There have been instances of vehicles belonging to rival party leaders being attacked, with windshields and windows damaged.

Police have stepped up security measures in the area, with the district police chief assuring stern action against those indulging in any kind of violence or intimidation. The upcoming elections will be a tough test for political parties and state machinery to ensure a peaceful and fair electoral process.

Incidents of violence have raised public concerns over public safety during the polls in Jharsuguda. It is imperative that the authorities take all necessary measures to ensure that the electoral process is conducted in a peaceful and fair manner.

The upcoming fresh elections will be a test for political parties and state machinery to ensure that the democratic process is run with integrity and transparency. Write a title for this article
