Punjab: “Waris Punjab De” Chief Amritpal Singh arrested

On Sunday, fugitive pro-Khalistani leader Amritpal Singh was arrested from the Rode village of Moga at 6:45 am.

 According to sources, Amritpal Singh was paying obeisance in the Gurdwara before his arrest.

When the Punjab government came under the scrutiny of him, after which an arrest warrant was issued against him, many of his supporters attacked the police station on March 6 to get their aides released.

Radical preacher Amritpal Singh was absconding for a month and roamed in 4 states Punjab, Haryana, UP, and Delhi because of the police and did not stay at any place for more than a few days. He also had plans to go abroad.

He traveled to Jalandhar in Punjab; He fled to Ludhiana, then Kurukshetra in Haryana, Pilibhit in UP, Rudrapur in Uttarakhand, Delhi, then Hoshiarpur in Punjab, Jalandhar to Moga.

It was claimed that he had surrendered but the police clarified that he was arrested as part of a joint operation by the intelligence wing of Amritsar Ruler Police.

At the press conference, the Inspector General of Police said, “The police had put constant pressure on Amritpal Singh and he was left with no option but to surrender,” adding that the Khalistani preacher was arrested from Rode village in Moga at 6:45 a.m.

Amritpal Singh sent to Dibrugarh jail in Assam after detaining him under NSA, said the Police Officer.

His eight aides are already being held under the National Security Act, which allows detention up to a Year without any charge.

After arrest of Amritpal Singh his father statement, “Through TV we came to know that he surrendered before the Police. We will fight the case, the entire community should fight it; he was working to save people from the drug menace. He was defamed”.

Amritpal Singh’s mother statement to ANI,  “We saw news and came to know that he was surrendered. I felt proud that he surrendred like a warrior… and we will fight a legal battle and we will also go and meet him at the earliest…”

Amritpal Singh’s wife Kirandeep was living in India and her visa was expiring in July. Recently, she was stopped at Amritsar airport while trying to board a flight to London.

Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale

The village of Moga is the birthplace of the slain terrorist, Khalistani terrorist Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale, whom he considered his role model, and also Amritpal Singh anointed the head of the “Waris Punjab De Sangathan” in an event organized in this village. He claims to be his follower and this is the place where Amritpal Singh was arrested, he is known as Bhindranwale 2.0 among his followers.
