Bollywood superstar Salman Khan made an unexpected visit to West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s residence in Kolkata on Thursday. The actor, who is in the city for the shooting of his upcoming film, “Antim: The Final Truth,” arrived at Banerjee’s residence around 4:30 pm. The Chief Minister welcomed him with a shawl, and Khan expressed his gratitude by folding his hands.
Khan’s unexpected visit has increased rumours about his political aspirations because of how popular he is in West Bengal. Banerjee, however, has denied these claims, claiming that the meeting was merely a courtesy call and not a political one. “Salman Khan only came to see me. The actor is alleged to have asked his team to set up a meeting with the Chief Minister after learning that she was in the same city as him, hence it is believed that Khan’s visit to Banerjee’s home was unintentional. Political parties in the state will be vying for Khan’s supporters as West Bengal’s assembly elections approach early next year.
