SFJ defaced the Delhi Metro walls with pro-Khalistan slogans

The cases of SFJ defacing the Delhi Metro walls have came forth. They have spray painted the walls with pro-Khalistan slogans before the G20 Summit. While Delhi Police is taking action against the case, it has logged an FIR against the group under Sections 505, 153a, and the Defacement Act.

The defaced walls have been spray-painted with several slogans, including ‘Khalistan Zindabad’. And the walls at the stations of Nangloi, Udyog Nagar,  Shivaji Park, and Paschim Vihar are those which have been defaced.

Later on, the banned organisation SFJ released a video addressing the graffiti. In the video, the group’s chief, Gurpatwant Singh Pannun, said, “The battle of G20 Pragati Maidan has started today… (Prime Minister) Modi and India are targets”. They said that this was a message for the G20 nations.

The Delhi Police on the matter said that they have taken note of the video and are investigating all the Metro stations. “We have lodged an FIR against unknown accused. Strict legal action will be taken for tampering with security arrangements before the summit. SFJ lures men to do their work for money. We will be making arrests soon”, a police spokesperson said.

Sikhs for Justice (SFJ) is a secessionist group based in the US that supports the secession of Punjab from India as Khalistan. The group was founded in 2009 and was headed by lawyer Gurpatwant Singh Pannun. It was created in response to the Sikh Massacre in 1984. The group has been banned in India since 2019 as an unlawful association. It began raising its voice for the creation of Khalistan in October 2021.
