Shinde vs Uddhav: What are the options left with Uddhav Thackeray after losing party symbol?

The Election Commission (EC) has given a decision in favor of the Eknath Shinde faction. The Eknath Shinde faction has got the name and election symbol of the Shiv Sena party, the bow and arrow. Due to this, the Uddhav Thackeray group has got a big blow. The party formed by Uddhav Thackeray’s father is no longer with him. The Uddhav Thackeray faction said that they would move the Delhi High Court against the Election Commission’s decision to give the party name Shiv Sena and election symbol to the Eknath Shinde faction. Uddhav Thackeray faction MP Sanjay Raut said that this is a mockery of truth and justice. He criticized this decision of the Election Commission.

Sanjay Raut said that Balasaheb Thackeray’s party Shiv Sena was claimed on behalf of 40 people and the Election Commission (EC) approved it. The script had already been prepared. The country is moving towards dictatorship. On the other hand, leaders of Shinde faction including Eknath Shinde have welcomed the decision of the Election Commission. He said that he will now start working immediately under the new name Shiv Sena and election symbol Dhanush Baan.

Options in front of Uddhav Thackeray

According to Uddhav Thackeray’s lawyers, he can file an appeal in the court against the order of the Election Commission. The Uddhav Thackeray group claims that their arguments were not considered by the Election Commission. The Election Commission considered the original constitution of the Shiv Sena in the year 1999 as the basis.

In another development after EC’s decision over the symbol row, Sharad Pawar suggested Uddhav Thackrey to not involve in this fight anymore, and rather focus on the 2023 BMC elections and 2024 General elections.

Shinde welcomes EC’s decision

CM Eknath Shinde said that this is the victory of Balasaheb Thackeray, all elected MLAs-MPs and lakhs of workers. This is the victory of democracy. The decision of the EC has come in our favor on the basis of merits. Our government has been formed on the basis of majority support, constitution and mandate.
