Shockwaves in UP as Asad encountered, Atiq Ahmed breaks down in court

In a shocking turn of events, gangster-politician Atiq Ahmed’s son Asad has been killed in an encounter by the Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force. The encounter happened in Jhansi. His aide Ghulam with a bounty of Rs.5 lakh on his head was also killed. At the time of encounter the STF squad was led by Deputy SP Navendu and Deputy SP Vimal. Special Additional Director General (Law and Order) Prashant Kumar said, “Asad and Ghulam were wanted in Umesh Pal murder case of Prayagraj and were carrying around Rs.5 lakh each” 

About Asad

Asad was the son of Atique Ahmed. He was 19 years old and a first year student at a law college. He was wanted in connection with the Umesh Pal murder case.

Umesh Pal Murder Case

On February 24 Umesh Pal along with his two police security guards was shot dead in broad daylight outside his home in Prayagraj. He was a key witness in the 2005 murder case of Raju Pal – a BSP MLA.

The news came at the time when Asad’s father Atiq Ahmed as well his uncle have been produced before the Chief Judicial Magistrate of a Prayagraj Court. He is wanted in the Umesh Pal murder case. He was recently brought to Prayagraj from the Sabarmati Central Jail and his brother was brought from Bareilly Jail. Atiq reportedly cried out in court after listening to the news of his son’s demise.

Reactions

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath praised the UP STF and the entire team involved in the encounter after a report of the entire matter was presented before him.

Umesh Pal’s wife Shanti Devi thanked the CM for “serving justice” and said, ” I appeal to him to give us justice ahead also”.

UP Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya congratulated the STF for the encounter saying that this was the fate that the killers of Umesh Pal were bound to meet.
