The Congress distributes ‘Guarantee Cards’

The Congress distributes the “Guarantee Cards” in Karnataka. Since the Assembly polls will be taking place soon, the Congress party has decided to launch a new initiative called ‘guarantee card’, on Saturday in Karnataka. The KPCC (Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee) President, DK Shivakumar and the CLP leader, Siddaramaiah, addressed the party workers to distribute and circulate the guarantee cards.

What is the ‘Guarantee Card’ ?

This card holds great power as it symbolizes all that the party will provide. According to this card, the party will provide every woman in the state with Rs. 2000 every month. The party will also be supplying 200 units of free power and electricity to all the houses. They have promised to give 10 kilograms of rice per month to each Below Poverty Line (BPL) family member. The Congress party has promised to take all these initiatives when they come to power. Initially, the Congress party had only announced two main initiatives. These were to provide 200 units of free electricity to every household (under the Gruha Jyoti Yojana) and to give Rs. 2,000 every woman who led the household activities (under the Gruha Lakshmi Scheme). Later the party promised to provide 10 kilograms of rice to every family living below the poverty line in order to reduce and eliminate hunger in the state.

DK Shivakumar also commented on Friday saying, “We have announced three guarantees. Now, I request you to distribute guarantee cards to everyone in our constituency. One person should cover at least 50 households. Me and Siddaramaiah are starting this initiative on March 11,”. He later added, “No matter where we are travelling, we will both visit each of the villages and will apprise people of these promises made by the Congress,”.
