UP Civic Polls: Yogi Adityanath Accuses SP of Giving Tickets to Rioters

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has accused the Samajwadi Party (SP) of giving tickets to people who were responsible for the riots in Kanpur. The Chief Minister’s comments come ahead of the upcoming civic polls in the state, where the SP is one of the main contenders.

Speaking at a rally in Kanpur, Yogi Adityanath accused the SP of indulging in “politics of appeasement” and claimed that the party was giving tickets to people who had “rioted in Kanpur and caused damage to public property.”

The Chief Minister also alleged that the SP was trying to create a “communal divide” in the state and was “playing with the sentiments of the people.”

The SP, on its part, has dismissed the allegations made by Yogi Adityanath and has accused the Chief Minister of trying to divert attention from the real issues facing the state.

The upcoming civic polls in Uttar Pradesh are being seen as a litmus test for the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) as well as for opposition parties like the SP and the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP). The polls will be held in three phases, starting from November 22, and the results will be declared on December 1.

The civic polls will be a key test for the ruling BJP, which is hoping to consolidate its position ahead of the 2022 state assembly elections. The party has been focusing on development and has been highlighting its achievements in the areas of infrastructure, education, and healthcare.

The SP, on the other hand, has been trying to woo voters by highlighting issues like unemployment, rising fuel prices, and inflation. The party has also been targeting the ruling BJP over issues like the Hathras case and the farmers’ protests.
