UPSC relaxes age limit for Women, SC/ST, OBC

Union Public Service Commission has released the UPSC IAS 2023 eligibility criteria in its official IAS 2023 notification on February 1, 2023 on the official website.

As per the UPSC age limit, candidates between the age group of 21 to 32 years with a graduation degree are eligible to apply for the UPSC IAS exam. However, on 6th Feb, 2023, UPSC has relaxed the age norms for the candidates.

The Union Public Service Commission prescribes the age limit in the official UPSC IAS notification 2023. As per the IAS age limit eligibility criteria, those between 21 to 32 years as on August 1, 2023, can fill the UPSC IAS application form.

However, on February 6, 2023, UPSC released a new notification, giving age relaxation to some of the categories. The new upper age relaxation for female candidates is two years, i.e. 21 to 34 years.

As for others, it is as follows:

  • SC/ST by 5 years i.e 37 years,
  • For OBC is 03 years i. 35 years,
  • For PD’s 10 years i. 42 years,
  • For ESM is 35 years i.e. 35 years
