Video: IndiGo Flight Hits Pilot After 13-Hour Flight Delay; Case Filed

Fog alert: The event occurred aboard IndiGo aircraft 6E-2175 from Delhi to Goa, which was delayed by several hours owing to fog.

A passenger on an IndiGo flight violently attacked the captain while he was delivering a statement about delays. A video of the attack has become popular on social media.
The event occurred aboard an IndiGo aircraft (6E-2175) from Delhi to Goa, which was delayed by several hours owing to fog on Sunday. The traveler has been recognized as Sahil Kataria. Indigo has submitted an accusation against him and is in the midst of opening an official case.

In the popular video, a guy in a yellow hoodie suddenly raced up from the last row and struck Anup Kumar, the airplane’s co-captain, who had taken over the previous crew owing to Flight Duty Time Limitations (FDTL) regulations after several hours of delay.

FDT laws are designed to protect the health of flight attendants and pilots by requiring proper rest times and addressing fatigue-related safety concerns. DGCA is responsible for creating FDTL.

Soon after the event, the passenger was removed from the plane and turned over to police.

“What do the pilot and the flight attendants have to do regarding the issue of delay?” They were only doing their job. Arrest this individual and add him to the no-fly list. “Publish the image so that others know of his violent behavior in public,” remarked one user on X in response to the video.

“This individual must be charged with assault and put on a no-fly list. Although @IndiGo6E is in the spotlight for a variety of reasons and should be held accountable for its faults, this is completely unacceptable passenger conduct,” remarked another.

The event occurred amid the backdrop of considerable delays at New Delhi airport, where up to 110 aircraft were delayed and 79 were postponed today, according to flight monitoring website flightradar24. The average delay exceeded 50 minutes, increasing to the anger of customers already dealing with widespread aircraft problems.

Yesterday, numerous planes coming and departing from Delhi’s airport experienced major delays, some lasting up to eight hours, owing to bad weather conditions in North India, including deep fog. Major airlines like IndiGo, SpiceJet, and Vistara Airlines have warned that the continued poor weather in Delhi and Kolkata may have a significant impact on flight schedules.
